weekly report
what I was reading, eating, playing, obsessing, recommending and trying this week
Monday 28th July - Sunday 3rd August
Reading
I have too many books on the go at the minute, it is never purposely done but it happens with such ease. I have read a few chapters of each book on the roster, meaning I have nothing concrete nor conclusive to relay about any of them. I am setting myself a goal to finish at least two of them this next week, so (fingers crossed) the next report shall be more exciting, I promise.
Eating
It is as simple as saying I went to Brew Dog this last weekend and indulged in their cauli wings yet again, specifically their korean bbq ones *chefs kiss*
Playing
I started, and finished, Dept.Q on Netflix this week and it solidified for me my love of British detective dramas. It was 4.5 out of 5 stars in my books and equally illustrated Matthew Goode’s superiority in a role like he had. It was at times slow paced but nonetheless interesting, my only note for a potential season 2 is ‘more Akram’ 🫶🏻

Obsessing
I also started The Fall this week, to fill the gap that finishing Dept.Q left me with and my obsession from now and forever continues to be Gillian Anderson, the woman she is.
Recommending
As linked above, my recommendation for all Letterboxd lovers out there is Serializd, seemingly dystopian and for those (like myself) who like to document each and every digital movement, an app for reviewing and logging TV shows. Scarily it shows you how many hours of your life you have spent watching the shows you log, which equally acts as a deterrent and an enabler depending on which way you look at it.
Trying
I am trying to not take this too seriously. I have routinely put off sitting down to write this week’s report because I didn’t feel I had anything of interest to write - ironically defeating the purpose of the report. I want this report to transform into an amalgamation of thoughts, recommendations and cultural critiques so going forward I think I am going to amend the structure - unleash some creativity. Handwritten sections, more photos and illustrations, collages and digital zines; something worth looking back on.
